For the final project in my graduate class Multimedia Content Creation, I was given a creative brief for The Quaker Oats Company. The brief explained many Americans skip breakfast and use energy drinks/coffee to make up for the energy loss, despite those being less effective than a balanced meal. The brief gave no specific demographic, but stated the ultimate goal of increasing Quaker sales. For the assignment, I had to make an Instagram ad, Facebook ad, and an ad that uses a gif. I created these using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
For the Instagram ad, I wanted to make something that would cater toward a younger audience as that is more common there. I feel that a reason many younger people do not eat oatmeal more is because it is seen as boring. To combat this, I made an ad that shows some of the many ways you can eat oats. This page is a preview, while the other pages would show the recipes. The recipe ideas were taken from the Quaker website.
Since Facebook has an older demographic, I focused this ad on families. It also addresses the misconception that breakfast takes too much time. To do this, I illustrated how taking time to eat breakfast in the morning will give you more energy than would coffee/energy drinks. This would let parents have more time to play with their kids.
For the ad using a GIF, I focused on one of my favorite reasons to eat oatmeal: staying warm. I combined four different photos (the table, oatmeal, house, and forest) to create a cold, but cozy environment. I used Photoshop to have steam rise and fall above the bowl, to add to the feeling of heat.
